Associated with the Smithsonian Institute, the National Museum of Industrial History (NMIH) building highlights past and present achievements of the American Industrial Revolution, including the technological advancements of today.
Worth & Company was charged with the task of coordination, value engineering and installation of the HVAC systems for this 100-year-old building. The HVAC systems included a modern high efficiency boiler plant, 200-ton chilled water plant, in slab radiant heating, semi-custom 41,000 cfm VAV Air handling system, DDC Control system and custom fabricated sheet metal.
The NMIH project was constructed with a very tight timeframe leading to challenges with equipment lead times and site logistics. To overcome the challenges of the stringent deadline, all of Worth’s internal and technologically advanced resources were utilized. VDC and BIM were used to create a real time document enhancing project communication and planning. Piping and sheet metal were prefabricated and pre-assembled in Worth & Company’s quality-controlled fabrication facilities and delivered to the project “just in time” to minimize on-site labor.
Worth was the only merit shop company on the project. In the true spirit of a merit philosophy, Worth worked effectively and professionally with the contractors on site to ensure the project’s multiple obstacles were overcome efficiently and successfully. Throughout the duration of this project, Worth demonstrated superior quality workmanship and utilized every aspect of the company’s infrastructure and resources to achieve the desired results of the customer.
